Job Summary
Managing claims litigation activities for designated states, the full-time Litigation Counsel will direct case strategy, oversee outside attorneys, and provide training on claims-handling protocols in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and direct claims litigation activities and case strategy for assigned states
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of outside attorneys and claims handling staff
- Research legal precedents and provide training on claims-handling protocols consistent with state law
Required qualifications
- Law degree with thorough knowledge of litigation, insurance law, and policy terms
- 1-3 years of trial or legal claims experience
- 6-12 months of on-the-job training in insurance contracts and claims procedures
- Ability to develop relationships with diverse stakeholders including attorneys and management
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
