Maranao Linguist

Job Summary

Supporting sensitive law enforcement efforts, the part-time Maranao Linguist will perform real-time and recorded transcription from Maranao to English, producing accurate written products while working remotely on an as-needed basis.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded communications in Maranao and produce verbal and written transcriptions as required
• Communicate pertinent information to law enforcement personnel in a timely manner during live monitoring
• Build and maintain a master list of slang terms and codes, as well as a voice library for the duration of the project

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in Maranao
• Knowledge of Maranao colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions
• Ability to achieve a score of 3 or better on a third-party language assessment in English and Maranao
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
