Job Summary
To support the coding department, the full-time Maryland Licensed Coding Specialist will analyze clinical documentation to accurately code and abstract data for outpatient records, ensuring compliance with billing and coding guidelines while working remotely.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient services
- Review medical records for accurate billing and resolve coding and claim edits using revenue management software
- Collaborate with healthcare departments to identify and rectify missing or erroneous charges while maintaining coding compliance
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in health information management or a related field
- COC Certified Outpatient Coder, RHIT, or CPC certification required upon hire
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding or a related field
- Successful completion of Outpatient Coding Specialist II assessment upon hire
- Knowledge of HSCRC guidelines and coding compliance standards
