Maryland Licensed Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Seeking a Maryland Licensed Coding Specialist III with extensive experience in Neurosurgery and/or Orthopedics coding, this full-time remote position will ensure accurate coding of medical-professional services, mentor junior coders, and recommend procedural changes to optimize reimbursement.

Key responsibilities

• Abstracts and ensures accuracy of diagnosis, procedure, patient demographics, and other required data elements
• Aids in the creation of training and educational coding guidance documents for physicians and associates
• Handles complex coding case reviews, including surgical coding and multi-visceral transplant cases

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5-7 years of medical-professional coding experience with demonstrated ability to work independently required
• 2 years of experience leading others or leading a work stream required
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification required
• Experience with computer systems for encoding and abstracting required
