Maryland Licensed Inpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support efficient healthcare operations, the full-time Maryland Licensed Inpatient Coder will review, code, and abstract inpatient medical records remotely, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and accuracy in diagnosis and procedure coding.

Key responsibilities:

• Review, code, and abstract inpatient medical records according to established coding guidelines
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS diagnosis and procedure codes
• Determine and assign Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) while maintaining coding accuracy and compliance

Required qualifications:

• Associate degree or equivalent education in a specialized field
• One (1) to three (3) years of inpatient coding experience
• Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Associate (CCA) with five (5) or more years of coding experience, Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
