Mechanical Engineer V

Job Summary

Leading a team of approximately 10 engineers, the full-time Mechanical Engineer V (Team Manager) will provide senior-level mechanical design engineering leadership for controllable solid propulsion systems, with responsibilities including complex design challenges and team development, in a hybrid or remote work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex mechanical design challenges for solid rocket motor systems and related components, performing trade-off analyses and driving multidisciplinary design optimization
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings, applying complex Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis
• Mentor and develop engineering team members through coaching, feedback, and training while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a relevant discipline with at least 10 years of mechanical design experience
• Strong experience with CAD modeling and technical drawing creation in SolidWorks, including complex GD&T and tolerance analysis
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in the design, development, testing, or manufacturing of controllable solid propulsion systems
• Advanced technical and organizational leadership skills with the ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level
