Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure timely submission of medical claims, the full-time Billing Specialist II will manage the verification of patient and billing information, perform compliant billing functions, and communicate issues to management while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize hospital/physician systems to verify patient and billing information for accuracy
• Perform primary, secondary, and tertiary billing functions, including electronic and paper submissions to payers
• Monitor claims for missing information and secure necessary medical documentation for insurance carriers

Required qualifications

• 2+ years of medical collections/billing experience
• Intermediate knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and NCCI
• Familiarity with billing claim forms (UB04/1500) and third-party billing guidelines
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Intermediate understanding of health information systems (e.g., EMR, Claim Scrubbers)
