Medical Coding Reimbursement Assistant
Job Summary
To support the Financial Clearance - Radiology Team, the full-time Reimbursement Assistant will meticulously extract data, apply ICD-9 CM and CPT procedure codes for accurate billing, and coordinate billing and collections with external agencies, working remotely with initial onsite training.
Key responsibilities
- Screen medical records for claims-related liability issues and assist in audits to identify potential billing problems
- Act as a liaison between third-party payers and departments to resolve audit discrepancies
- Interpret healthcare documentation to determine principal diagnoses and procedures for accurate coding
Required qualifications
- Associate's degree (or equivalent credit hours) in medical coding, medical office technology, or a related field
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience in medical-related roles is preferred
