Medical Insurance AR Specialist

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the timely collection of outstanding healthcare insurance receivables, the full-time Medical Insurance AR Specialist will work remotely to verify patient eligibility, update insurance information, and conduct research on unpaid claims.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient eligibility and authorization for healthcare services by utilizing payer websites and direct communication with insurance carriers
• Conduct research on unpaid or denied claims, updating patient demographics and insurance information as necessary
• Contact payers to secure payment of claims and prepare appeals for technical denials while adhering to compliance guidelines

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• At least three years of experience in healthcare insurance accounts receivable follow-up
• Experience with accounts receivable software and navigating payer sites for claims follow-up
• Knowledge of medical business office procedures and third-party payer billing practices
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with payers and document encounters accurately
