Minnesota Licensed Clinical Documentation Specialist

Job Summary

To enhance clinical documentation practices, the full-time Minnesota Licensed Clinical Documentation Specialist will provide concurrent reviews, feedback, and education to healthcare providers remotely, ensuring accurate reflection of patient conditions and compliance with coding guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial and continued-stay concurrent reviews on inpatient admissions, documenting findings using designated CDI and coding software
• Communicate with medical staff to obtain accurate documentation and resolve documentation issues related to ICD-10-CM and PCS codes
• Educate physicians and clinicians on the importance of complete documentation and maintain current knowledge of coding and documentation guidelines

Required qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school with two years of professional nursing experience in an acute hospital setting, or
• Graduation from an AHIMA accredited program as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) with three years of inpatient coding experience, or
• Graduation from an AHIMA accredited program as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) with four years of inpatient coding experience, or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience
• Current licensure by the Minnesota Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or registration as RHIA/RHIT by the American Health Information Management Association
