Mortgage Product Counsel
Job Summary
Serving as the dedicated legal partner for Zillow Home Loans' mortgage products, the full-time Senior Product Counsel will provide comprehensive legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle, focusing on compliance with mortgage regulations while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the primary legal contact for ZHL mortgage products, offering counsel from concept through launch
- Advise product and engineering teams on federal and state mortgage regulatory frameworks
- Collaborate with AI/ML teams to ensure compliance for AI-enabled product features
Required qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in consumer finance, mortgage, or product counseling, preferably in-house at a mortgage lender or fintech
- Juris Doctor (JD) with active state bar admission in at least one jurisdiction
- Strong understanding of mortgage and consumer lending regulations
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
- Familiarity with adjacent regulatory frameworks like GLBA and TCPA is a plus
