Mortgage Underwriter (DE Licensed)
Job Summary
To support a growing mortgage team, the full-time Mortgage Underwriter (DE Licensed) will approve saleable loans, underwrite various loan programs, and maintain knowledge of investor guidelines while working in a hybrid remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Approve loans based on risk assessment and ensure compliance with FNMA, FHLMC, and FHA guidelines
- Monitor daily pipeline and manage self-assigned preapprovals to deliver timely updates to Mortgage Specialists
- Analyze loan quality issues and uphold fraud prevention and ethical standards
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred; minimum HS diploma or equivalent required
- At least 2 years of DE underwriting experience with conventional and FHA loans; USDA/VA experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with electronic mortgage processing systems (Encompass preferred)
- Must reside in a state where the company is licensed
- Ability to manage high-stress situations and work independently with minimal supervision
