Job Summary
To support agricultural legislation reform in Iraq, the part-time National Legal Specialist will conduct a comprehensive review of existing laws, perform gap analysis, facilitate stakeholder consultations, and develop actionable legal reform proposals, working remotely for a duration of 60 working days.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare an inception report detailing methodology, assessment criteria, and stakeholder engagement for the legislative review
- Conduct a systematic review of agricultural legislation to identify gaps, overlaps, and inconsistencies with international obligations
- Organize consultations with stakeholders to validate findings and formulate prioritized legal reform recommendations
Required qualifications
- University degree in Law, preferably with specialization in agricultural or environmental law
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in legislative review or agricultural law and policy
- Working knowledge of English and Arabic
- National of Iraq or resident with a valid work permit
- Proven knowledge of Iraq's legal and institutional framework for agriculture
