New York Licensed Emergency Coder

Job Summary

To ensure the accuracy and compliance of medical coding practices, the remote New York Licensed Emergency Coder will review clinical documentation, assign diagnosis and procedure codes, and collaborate with healthcare professionals while maintaining a minimum coding accuracy rate of 98%.

Key responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes for various outpatient encounters
• Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures through the coding query process
• Perform peer reviews and quality audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance

Required qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent coding certification
• Experience coding and auditing outpatient, observation, and emergency department encounters
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and regulatory guidelines
• Experience using electronic encoder applications and healthcare coding systems
• Proven ability to meet productivity goals while maintaining a minimum accuracy rate of 98%
