As the New York Licensed Head of Legal, the full-time role will manage day-to-day legal operations, focusing on commercial contracts, data licensing, and technology transactions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead commercial contracting by drafting and negotiating enterprise customer agreements, data licenses, and vendor contracts
- Shape data and IP rights, establishing positions on data acquisition, permitted use, and AI-related rights
- Build legal operations by developing templates, negotiation playbooks, and a reliable contract repository
Required qualifications
- Strong experience in leading complex commercial negotiations for technology, SaaS, or financial data businesses
- Depth in data licensing or technology transactions, including IP rights and privacy provisions
- Experience advising business teams directly, ideally in-house, with a focus on translating legal analysis into actionable decisions
- A track record of building or improving legal templates and processes
- A J.D. or equivalent legal qualification with active admission to a U.S. state bar
