Job Summary
Conducting detailed investigations and biopsychosocial assessments, the full-time New York Licensed Mitigation Specialist will advocate for clients in the criminal justice system, supporting defense counsel and promoting alternatives to incarceration while working in a hybrid environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct client intakes and psychosocial assessments, particularly with clients in detention
- Advocate orally and in writing to the Court, District Attorney's Office, and Department of Probation
- Develop treatment plans, make referrals, and support clients in achieving their goals
Required qualifications
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Forensic Psychology, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in a criminal justice environment
- Experience conducting investigations and writing court reports
- Familiarity with advocating before the Court and understanding Court entities
- Experience managing a caseload of clients with diverse needs
