North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support the Patient Revenue Management Organization, the fully remote North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will manage primary diagnosis and procedural coding for surgical specialties, ensuring compliance and optimizing coding practices through collaboration with providers and ongoing education.

Key responsibilities

• Code from surgical/procedural operative reports and review complex medical records for accurate coding
• Provide education and training to physicians on coding practices and clinical documentation
• Mentor and assist in training other coders while participating in the development of coding policies and procedures

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical record administration or an associate degree in medical record technology
• Four years of coding experience, including two years in surgical abstraction
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding conventions
• Familiarity with coding software and reimbursement knowledge in a multi-specialty setting
