Job Summary
Supporting the NOAA Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services, the full-time Oceanographic Data Specialist will review and verify oceanographic data, assist in troubleshooting data issues, and maintain technical documentation while working remotely in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, enter, and verify metadata and data for water level stations and oceanographic sensors
- Evaluate submitted documentation and data, providing written feedback as necessary
- Assist in troubleshooting and analyzing oceanographic and meteorological data issues
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in oceanography, meteorology, hydrology, or related field, or a bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience
- Knowledge of physical oceanographic principles, particularly related to tides and tidal currents
- Experience with MATLAB, spreadsheets, databases, and Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the ESRI suite of GIS products
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
