Operations Research Scientist
Job Summary
To enhance operational efficiency and service reliability, the contract Operations Research Scientist will develop advanced optimization and machine learning models while collaborating with business stakeholders and software engineers in a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop real-time network disruption management and recovery models to support railroad operations
- Design and implement advanced mathematical optimization and machine learning models using Python, Java, or C++
- Collaborate with multiple departments to identify opportunities for operational improvements and process optimization
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline
- 3-5 years of experience developing decision-support systems using operations research methodologies
- Strong expertise in mathematical optimization techniques, including Linear Programming and Mixed Integer Programming
- Proficiency in Python and experience with additional programming languages such as Java or C++
- Experience with commercial or open-source optimization solvers such as Gurobi or CPLEX
