Orthopedic Coding Specialist
Job Summary
To support the coding department's operations, the temporary remote Orthopedic Coding Specialist will accurately assign ICD-10 and CPT codes, resolve coding edits and rejections, and ensure compliance with coding regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately assign and appropriately sequence ICD-10 and CPT codes along with applicable modifiers
- Contact clients regarding inadequate or unclear documentation for coding purposes
- Monitor regulatory and payer changes related to diagnostic and procedure coding
Required qualifications
- Active coding credentials such as CPC, CCS-P, CIC, COC, or CRC
- 3+ years of experience in medical coding, specifically in orthopedic coding
- Professional coding experience with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier assignment
- Experience with EMR/EHR platforms, preferably eClinicalWorks (ECW)
- Strong understanding of documentation requirements and coding compliance
