Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

To support the coding needs of a healthcare facility, the full-time Outpatient Coder will assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD 10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS while ensuring compliance with CMS requirements and maintaining a 95% accuracy rate in a remote work environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes according to CMS requirements for hospital billing
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations, including APCs, OPPS, and NCCI
• Facilitate positive relationships with medical staff and assist in training other coders for accuracy

Required qualifications:

• Certification as a Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
• Ability to code various outpatient chart types including Amb Surgery, Observation, and ED
• Experience with coding software systems, specifically Meditech
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant coding experience
