Outpatient Coding Consultant
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Outpatient Coding Consultant, this part-time remote position will manage the review and coding of medical records, ensuring accuracy in diagnoses and procedures while maintaining high coding standards and productivity.
Key responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and meet site-designated productivity standards
- Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel
Required qualifications
- AHIMA or AAPC certified credentials (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CPC-H)
- 2+ years of coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role
- Proficiency in coding specialties such as Same Day Surgery, Observation, and Injections/Infusions
- Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software
- Ability to pass annual HIPAA examinations and other assigned testing
