Outpatient Coding Consultant

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare team, the part-time Outpatient Coding Consultant will review medical records, assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures, and maintain coding accuracy while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures
• Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and meet productivity standards
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel

Required qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC certified credentials (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC)
• Minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital or coding consulting role
• Experience with Hospital Billing Claim edits and familiarity with software like Parallon, Cerner, and Optum
• Proficiency in various coding specialties, including Same Day Surgery and Emergency Department coding
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong organizational skills
