Outpatient Coding Intern

Job Summary

Gaining hands-on experience in outpatient medical coding, the part-time Outpatient Coding Student Intern will support the outpatient coding team by observing and performing entry-level coding functions under supervision in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the outpatient coding team with various coding functions and special projects
• Observe and practice coding procedures while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and coding guidelines
• Bridge classroom learning with real-world application in a supervised healthcare environment

Required qualifications

• Enrollment in OSU programs leading to a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or Health Information Systems
• Preference for students enrolled in programs within the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences for business-related assignments
• Ability to work varying shifts totaling approximately 20 hours per week
