Patient Accounts Specialist I

Job Summary

To enhance the patient experience, the full-time Patient Accounts Specialist I will contact patients before their visits to provide financial information, complete pre-registration and pre-collection tasks, and assist with payment plans and financial applications while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Contact patients to inform them of their estimated financial responsibilities and complete pre-registration
• Assist patients with payment plans, Medicaid applications, and financial assistance processes
• Collaborate with Patient Advocates and Patient Access teams to ensure timely collection of payments and address financial risks

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1-2 years of experience in patient accounting, accounts receivable, or a related healthcare field
• Proficiency in at least one specific payer's billing and/or collection process
• Basic knowledge of UB04, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), medical terminology, and CPT/ICD-10 coding
• Ability to type at least 35 words per minute
