Patient Financial Advocate

Job Summary

Providing compassionate support to patients with billing inquiries, the full-time Patient Financial Advocate will work remotely to resolve billing issues, set up payment arrangements, and educate patients on their financial responsibilities while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Connect with patients via various communication channels to discuss outstanding balances and facilitate personalized payment arrangements
• Educate patients on billing processes, payment options, and financial responsibilities while addressing their concerns compassionately
• Collaborate with medical assistants to ensure timely responses to patient collections-related inquiries and maintain accurate patient account information

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; AA or 1-3 years of experience in medical billing or patient collections preferred
• Knowledge of medical billing processes, insurance terminology, and patient financial responsibilities
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems
• Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with empathy and professionalism
• Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
