Patient Financial Advocate

Job Summary

To support a growing behavioral health practice, the full-time Patient Financial Advocate will assist patients in applying for financial assistance and establishing payment plans, while working remotely to manage financial applications and monitor payment agreements.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews financial assistance applications and verifies eligibility according to organizational policies
• Approves sliding scale discounts and adjusts patient account balances in the billing system
• Establishes and monitors patient payment plans, ensuring they meet the full account balance requirements

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in healthcare administration or finance preferred
• Three years of experience in healthcare billing, patient financial services, or medical collections required
• Experience with EHR and billing systems is required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required
• Knowledge of sliding scale/charity care and payment plan regulations preferred
