Patient Safety Companion

Job Summary

To provide essential monitoring and support for patient safety, the as-needed Patient Safety Companion will observe patients during assigned shifts, assist with routine activities, and ensure a safe environment while coordinating care with nursing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Directly observe identified patients at all times to ensure safety and prevent harm
• Implement and document patient safety protocols regarding elopement, suicide risk, self-harm, fall risk, and aggression
• Assist patients with routine activities and coordinate care with nursing staff and other hospital personnel

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months of hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
• Experience in a healthcare or patient care setting is preferred
