Payment Variance Follow Up Specialist

Job Summary

To support the resolution of outstanding insurance claims, the part-time Payment Variance Follow Up Specialist will manage follow-ups with payers, perform payment variance analysis, and initiate appeals as necessary in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow up with payers to ensure timely resolution of outstanding claims through various communication methods
• Perform payment variance analysis to identify trends in underpaid claims and report underpayments and denial trends
• Initiate appeals for claims when necessary and maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA standards

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 3 years of experience in commercial insurance collections and hospital/facility billing
• Working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement methodologies and claims processing, including ICD-9, CPT, and HCPC codes
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and ability to analyze issues causing payment delays
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented attitude
