Personal Financial Counselor Trainee

Job Summary

To support the delivery of personal financial counseling services, the remote Personal Financial Counselor Trainee will receive training while working towards certification, focusing on providing education and assistance to service members and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Learn to provide personal financial counseling and management services for service members and their families
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
• Coordinate and provide a variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops on military lifecycle topics

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree with 4 years of experience, or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
• Must have over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience prior to application
• Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred if required by the contract
• Must be working towards an approved Financial Certification (AFC, CFP, or ChFC) within 3 months of employment
• Must demonstrate ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality at all times
