Personal Lines Underwriter
Job Summary
To ensure a profitable book of business, the full-time Personal Lines Underwriter will evaluate the acceptability of risks, make decisions on new and renewal business, and communicate with agents while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Accepts, rejects, or modifies new and renewal business for Personal Lines to maintain profitability
- Reviews risk acceptability and makes subjective decisions based on underwriting guidelines and state compliance regulations
- Develops relationships with agents and conducts outreach to discuss market appetite and encourage profitable growth
Required qualifications
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, preferably in insurance
- 9-15 months of underwriting or relevant experience required
- Knowledge of Personal Lines products and contract knowledge preferred
- Proficient in underwriting with a strong understanding of regulatory and policy differences among states
- Actively working toward professional designation(s) preferred
