Personal Lines Underwriter

Job Summary

To ensure a profitable personal book of business, the full-time Personal Lines Underwriter will evaluate risks, make decisions on new and renewal business, and actively engage with agents remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Accepts, rejects, or modifies new and renewal business while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines
• Develops and maintains relationships with agents to promote market appetite and profitable growth
• Mentors newer underwriters and collaborates with Territory Managers to identify and address trends affecting business

Required qualifications

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience, preferably in insurance
• One to two years of underwriting or relevant experience required
• Knowledge of Personal Lines products and state-specific regulatory differences preferred
• Proficiency in underwriting and negotiation skills
• Active pursuit of professional designations is preferred
