Precertification Specialist

Job Summary

To ensure timely authorizations for medical procedures, the full-time remote Precertification Specialist will identify patients needing pre-certification, verify insurance eligibility, obtain clinical documentation, and communicate with insurance companies and healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities

• Identify scheduled patients requiring pre-certification and gather relevant data for the process
• Contact insurance companies to obtain pre-certifications and determine eligibility and benefits
• Maintain accurate patient account documentation and communicate outcomes with financial counselors and providers

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One year of experience in pre-certifications, medical billing, registration, or related healthcare fields preferred
• Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding requirements
• Computer experience required; knowledge of Epic preferred
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
