Principal AI Engineer

Job Summary

To drive the development of the Vector Store GenAI Platform, the full-time Principal AI Engineer will set technical direction and hands-on build for document intelligence and retrieval systems, working remotely to enhance search quality and integration with AI workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Own platform architecture and delivery for the Vector Store GenAI Platform, focusing on search, retrieval, document processing, and ingestion pipelines
• Set technical direction for hybrid search quality, evaluating models and driving production adoption through POCs and benchmarks
• Partner with stakeholders to define success metrics and prioritize workstreams while ensuring platform operability and quality improvements

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree in clinical or life sciences is a plus
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with substantial ownership of production systems at scale
• 5+ years of experience building AI/ML-powered applications, particularly in retrieval-augmented systems and document-centric AI pipelines
• Strong hands-on expertise in Python and modern software engineering practices, including testing and agile delivery
• Experience designing and operating AI systems in cloud environments, preferably AWS, with knowledge of CI/CD and production support
