Principal Data Engineer

Job Summary

To shape and improve data architecture and engineering practices, the full-time Principal Data Engineer will proactively identify opportunities for modernization, provide architectural guidance, and lead the implementation of complex data solutions in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate existing data architecture, identify gaps, and propose solutions with clear tradeoffs and implementation plans
• Lead the design and hands-on implementation of complex data pipelines and integration patterns across Snowflake, AWS, and Airflow
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business processes and integration requirements into appropriate data models and architectural solutions

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or data platform development, including technical leadership of complex production systems
• Advanced hands-on experience with Snowflake, SQL, Python, and Apache Airflow, including data modeling and pipeline development
• Experience designing data integration and cloud-based data architectures, including AWS services
• Demonstrated experience independently identifying architectural problems and leading implementation across teams
