Principal Data Platform Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the architecture and evolution of an enterprise data platform, the remote Principal Data Platform Engineer will manage data ingestion, transformation, and warehousing processes while providing technical leadership to a team of data engineers and BI developers on a contract basis.
Key responsibilities
- Own the architecture and operations of the enterprise data platform, ensuring data quality and observability
- Manage cloud infrastructure as code using Terraform and oversee the master data management platform
- Define and evolve the data architecture roadmap in partnership with engineering leadership and communicate with executive stakeholders
Required qualifications
- 15+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in senior or lead roles focused on data engineering and platform work
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, Python, and data modeling fundamentals
- Deep expertise with GCP, BigQuery, dbt, and orchestration tools like Dagster or Airflow
- Strong infrastructure-as-code experience, particularly with Terraform on GCP
- Proven track record of technical leadership and managing master data platforms such as Pimcore
