Principal Data Platform Engineer
Job Summary
Leading the architecture and evolution of an enterprise data platform, the remote Principal Data Platform Engineer will manage data ingestion, transformation, and warehousing processes while providing technical leadership to a team of data engineers and BI developers on a contract basis.
Key responsibilities
- Own the architecture and operations of the enterprise data platform, including data ingestion, transformation, and warehousing
- Implement and maintain monitoring, observability, and data quality frameworks across the platform
- Define and evolve the data architecture roadmap in partnership with engineering leadership and communicate progress to executive stakeholders
Required qualifications
- 15+ years of IT experience, with 5+ years in a senior or lead role focused on data engineering and platform work
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and Python, along with strong data modeling fundamentals
- Deep expertise with modern data stack technologies, including GCP, BigQuery, dbt, and Looker
- Strong background in infrastructure-as-code, particularly with Terraform on GCP
- Experience managing master data platforms and integrating AI capabilities into analytics platforms
