Principal Data Scientist

Job Summary

Owning end-to-end domain-specific content modeling work, the full-time remote Principal Data Scientist will design and build NLP enrichment pipelines, evaluate various NLP approaches, and collaborate with data engineers to optimize data pipelines for scientific research applications.

Key responsibilities:

• Design and implement NLP enrichment pipelines for extracting entities, classifications, and summaries from scientific texts
• Evaluate and compare traditional and LLM-based NLP approaches to determine the best tools for specific tasks
• Collaborate with data engineers to ensure reliable and efficient data pipeline operations

Required qualifications:

• Extensive experience in Python programming, particularly in production environments
• Strong background in both modern and classical NLP techniques
• Proven ability to evaluate and select appropriate methodologies based on performance and cost
• Demonstrated track record of delivering production-ready systems that provide value to users
• Experience working with scientific or scholarly text is preferred
