Job Summary

To shape the understanding and improvement of Reddit's complex consumer ecosystem, the remote Principal Data Scientist will define measurement, modeling, and experimentation strategies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to address high-impact consumer problems.

Key responsibilities

• Set the scientific direction for consumer problems related to discovery, relevance, and user engagement
• Develop models and frameworks representing users, content, and communities over time
• Build measurement systems to evaluate user interactions and guide actionable insights in production environments

Required qualifications

• Deep expertise in consumer science areas such as recommender systems or user modeling
• Advanced knowledge of modern machine-learning methods and experience with frameworks like PyTorch or JAX
• Significant experience applying data science and causal inference to complex consumer products
• Exceptional technical judgment in model design and experimentation strategies
• Ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex findings into clear decisions
