Principal Embedded Firmware Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a Principal Embedded Firmware Engineer for a full-time remote position focused on architecting and implementing firmware for next-generation networking silicon, including managing secure boot processes and collaborating with ASIC/RTL teams.
Key responsibilities
- Architect and implement bare-metal C firmware on a RISC-V management core for on-chip acceleration engines
- Own the secure firmware-loading pipeline, ensuring hardware root-of-trust authentication and image distribution
- Set architecture standards, review designs and code, and mentor junior engineers in firmware development
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in embedded/firmware engineering with a focus on software architecture and technical leadership
- Expertise in C programming (C++ is a plus) and working knowledge of Python
- Deep experience with bare-metal firmware and low-level bring-up on constrained cores
- Experience with secure boot, image authentication, and hardware root-of-trust integration
- Proficient in programming hardware CSRs and co-designing register-level interfaces with silicon teams
