Principal Engineer, AI Security

Job Summary

To lead AI security initiatives at cloud scale, the full-time Principal Engineer, AI Security will partner with various teams to integrate AI security controls, develop in-house AI/ML models, and drive the AI Security strategy while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Define and integrate AI security controls into customer-facing products in collaboration with Product Security and Engineering leadership
• Lead adversarial testing and security reviews of AI product initiatives, providing architectural sign-off and guidance for high-risk decisions
• Own DigitalOcean's AI Security strategy and multi-year roadmap, prioritizing risks and defining investment areas as the threat landscape evolves

Required qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with 4-5 years focused on AI/ML security or security data science
• Demonstrated experience in defining and driving AI or security programs at an organizational level
• Deep knowledge of adversarial ML attacks and defenses, including evasion and poisoning techniques
• Strong programming skills in Python and Go, with experience in building security tooling and automation
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
