Principal Engineer, Infrastructure

Job Summary

Leading the technical strategy and execution for indexing and retrieval infrastructure, the full-time Principal Engineer, Infrastructure will define long-term vision and modernize systems across Core, Ads, and Shopping while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical vision for indexing and retrieval infrastructure to improve freshness, quality, and cost efficiency
• Lead initiatives to modernize indexing architecture and support high-scale, high-quality candidate generation
• Mentor senior engineers and guide system design and architecture reviews to elevate operational excellence

Required qualifications

• Deep expertise in large-scale indexing, search, and retrieval systems, including real-time architectures
• Strong technical leadership experience with a proven track record of influencing direction across multiple teams
• Exceptional systems thinking and problem-solving skills, connecting design decisions to product quality and business outcomes
• Demonstrated experience using AI to enhance engineering workflows and decision-making processes
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
