Principal Linux Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely, the full-time Principal Linux Engineer will be responsible for building, patching, and testing userspace packages for Rocky Linux, while enhancing tooling and automation in the package-building process.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, product, and sales teams to develop software solutions and participate in architecture-level discussions
• Document projects for knowledge sharing and facilitate integration for users, while driving proofs of concept and minimum viable products
• Develop automated tests to ensure quality and support multiple services through system design consulting and capacity planning

Required qualifications

• Proven experience with Linux administration, Linux internals, and package management (RPM or DEB)
• At least 4 years of experience supporting Linux and 2 years in building Linux packages
• Familiarity with CVE remediation and various tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD processes
• Proficient in scripting languages and formats including Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, and REST APIs
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment, adapting to challenges in a fast-paced setting
