Principal Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary
Empowered to make real-time decisions, the remote Principal Mechanical Engineer will design and build flight hardware for the Starship project, focusing on propellant tanks, integration interfaces, and structural subassemblies while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop design concepts and size vehicle structures based on flight loads
- Create detailed designs and generate CAD models in NX for components and vehicle integration
- Validate designs through structural testing and partner with build engineers to improve hardware
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- 7+ years of experience with mechanical design and analysis
- Experience designing and testing high-performance mechanical systems
- Strong understanding of mechanical first principles and structural analysis methodologies
- Proficiency in FEA or multiphysics simulation packages (e.g., NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS)
