Principal Ontologist

Job Summary

Working remotely in a full-time capacity, the Principal Ontologist will design, implement, and operationalize enterprise semantic models and ontologies to enhance AI-driven analytics and decision automation across the Business Insurance data portfolio.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of enterprise-scale semantic layers to standardize business meaning and enable trusted analytics
• Define and operationalize ontologies and knowledge graphs to power reasoning and decision intelligence across Business Insurance domains
• Model core insurance concepts and relationships to enable semantic-first AI and agentic analytics

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Management, or related field
• 8-12+ years of experience in semantic layer architecture, ontology modeling, and knowledge graph design at an enterprise scale
• Deep expertise with RDF, OWL, RDFS, and SPARQL, as well as experience with graph technologies like Neo4j or Amazon Neptune
• Proven ability to integrate knowledge graphs with large language models and AI pipelines
• Strong understanding of context-aware data engineering and semantic interoperability
