Job Summary

Seeking a full-time Principal Research Scientist specializing in risk, this hybrid position will define research agendas, develop statistical models, and translate findings into actionable tools for utilities managing significant capital expenditures.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to applied research for infrastructure risk and resilience
• Establish standards for risk modeling and decision-making
• Develop predictive models for equipment damage, outage likelihood, and wildfire-related risks

Required qualifications

• PhD in statistics, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, operations research, engineering, or related field
• Proven track record of executing a substantial research agenda with influential publications or patents
• Expertise in probabilistic modeling, uncertainty quantification, and decision-making under incomplete information
• Experience in modeling operational systems, particularly in power systems and reliability engineering
• Recognized subject matter expert with a history of setting research direction independently
