Principal Software Architect

Job Summary

To enhance the product experience for a healthcare contact center, the full-time remote Principal Software Architect will own the architecture of AI voice agents and real-time systems, drive technical design reviews, and mentor engineers while ensuring architectural consistency across backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture for AI voice agent platforms and design real-time, low-latency systems for in-call intent detection
• Drive the AI agent evaluation framework and set service level objectives for agent-facing services
• Design and build backend services using Python and manage data across MongoDB and PostgreSQL

Required qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of complex, multi-service systems
• Strong proficiency in Python, including async programming, with experience in FastAPI or Django
• Experience designing distributed architectures and working with event-driven systems like Kafka
• Direct experience with conversational AI systems in production, including latency-sensitive real-time pipelines
• Familiarity with LLM/agent frameworks and reliability practices for AI agents
