Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
To shape the software backbone of a fusion power plant, the full-time remote Principal Software Engineer will define and maintain the Core Software architecture, design critical software components, and lead technical decisions within the Software Department.
Key responsibilities
- Define and maintain the end-to-end Core Software architecture, including device interfaces and data handling
- Design and implement critical parts of the Core Software system using languages such as C++ and Python
- Lead technical decisions across teams, mentor engineers, and set engineering standards for the department
Required qualifications
- Extensive experience designing and implementing control software for complex physical or industrial systems
- Strong experience with hardware and software interfaces, including device integration and troubleshooting
- Experience designing and implementing automated calibration facilities or workflows
- Strong software design and implementation skills in C++, Python, or similar languages
- Ability to define architecture for complex, mission-critical systems under changing requirements
