Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
Building a new connectivity agent for IBM z/OS, the remote Principal Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain software that integrates Redwood RunMyJobs with mainframe environments, focusing on systems-level engineering involving custom protocols and security.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain native software for integration with IBM z/OS mainframe environments
- Build integrations with core mainframe technologies, including job submission, command execution, and event monitoring
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate customer requirements into effective technical solutions
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Java 8+ skills
- Hands-on z/OS systems integration experience, including JES2/JES3 and TSO
- Strong working proficiency in C and low-level network protocol experience
- Experience implementing cryptographic primitives using standard libraries like Java JCE
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices and technologies, including Git and CI/CD
