Principal Software Engineer
Job Summary
To support the expansion of database capabilities, the full-time Principal Software Engineer will lead the design and implementation of advanced systems features for Postgres, focusing on performance optimization and scalability, while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of advanced systems features, including storage, replication, and query execution
- Contribute to and extend Postgres internals to enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior engineers while driving projects from concept to production
Required qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in systems software development using C/C++ or Rust
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL or other database engine internals
- Strong understanding of concurrency, operating systems, and performance engineering
- Proven ability to ship large-scale systems or core infrastructure features end-to-end
- Experience contributing to open-source databases or similar complex systems is highly desirable
